Japanese camera giant Nikon, through its Taiwan distributor Guo Xiang Trading, announced today (4/19) its 2012 brand ambassadors — Eddie Peng and Gwei Lun-mei. This marks the first time a camera brand has chosen both male and female representatives to showcase the various possibilities between cameras and people. Additionally, the company unveiled its latest DSLR, the Nikon D3200, set to hit the market in May this year.

Weighing approximately 505 grams, the Nikon D3200 is the world’s first DSLR digital camera to support app connectivity. Through the wireless accessory WU-1a, users can connect to a smartphone, remotely control the camera, and upload images to social networks or send them via email. It also boasts a 24.2-megapixel sensor — the highest resolution among DSLRs in its class — and an ISO sensitivity of up to 12,800. The camera supports over 70 NIKKOR lenses. In addition to Full HD video recording, it offers continuous autofocus while filming and external microphone compatibility. Its suggested retail price is USD 700 (approximately NT$20,642).

Lin Hen-mei, Deputy General Manager of the Electronic Imaging Division at Guo Xiang Trading, said: “Nikon cameras have ranked No. 1 in the interchangeable lens camera market for four consecutive months. The Nikon D3200 combines photography, videography, and sharing — it’s not just a camera, but a tool that unlocks more possibilities in expressing one’s lifestyle. Even for those unfamiliar with DSLRs, the D3200’s built-in guide mode helps users learn how to capture the images they want.”
