Traveling abroad often comes with the hassle of managing cash—too little isn’t enough, too much is a worry if lost. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Krungthai Bank to issue the “Magic Thailand” prepaid shopping card, designed for foreign travelers to use while shopping. The prepaid card can be used as an electronic cash card, withdrawn from any ATM in Thailand, and offers discounts at major shopping malls and tourist attractions, along with complimentary medical and accident insurance coverage. Travelers can purchase the card at the ATTA counter at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok or at any Krungthai Bank foreign exchange service counter.

The basic fee for the prepaid card is 100 Thai baht (approximately NT$99), with a maximum top-up limit of 30,000 Thai baht (approximately NT$29,700). Purchasing the card comes with a complimentary 7-day insurance package: up to 10,000 Thai baht (approximately NT$9,900) for outpatient medical expenses, 500,000 Thai baht (approximately NT$495,000) for inpatient medical expenses, and 1 million Thai baht (approximately NT$990,000) for accidental death coverage. Travelers can also extend their accident and medical insurance coverage during their trip.

In addition, the prepaid card can be used at major shopping malls and attractions across Thailand. If you’re at a merchant that doesn’t accept the prepaid card, you can still withdraw cash from any ATM in Thailand with zero transaction fees. The card also offers shopping discounts at key shopping destinations such as The Mall, Emporium, Siam Paragon, Paradise Park, MBK Center, King Power duty-free stores, Siam Park, Siam Niramit, and Safari World.
