"The Forest of Forgetfulness" in downtown Kaohsiung – A secret fairyland you can reach by metro

Nantou’s Forest of Forgetfulness has become a well-known Taiwanese hidden gem both domestically and internationally. But now, residents in southern Taiwan don’t need to travel far – there’s a mini version of the “Forest of Forgetfulness” right in downtown Kaohsiung, and it’s accessible by metro, making it the hottest spot recommended by netizens lately.

This urban “Forest of Forgetfulness” is actually officially named the “Dadong Wetlands Park.” Covering an area of about 9 hectares, it’s located right across from the Dadong Arts and Cultural Center in Kaohsiung’s Fengshan District. Originally Zhongzheng Park, after years of greening and revitalization by the Kaohsiung City Government, it has transformed into the beautiful wetlands park it is today. With its dense woods, clear lake water, small fish swimming around, and tiny waterfalls, this tranquil space makes many visitors feel as if they’ve stepped into the Forest of Forgetfulness, allowing them to momentarily escape the chaos of daily life.

In addition to its beautiful wetland landscape, the park also features children’s play equipment and a variety of flowers planted throughout. As the seasons change, different enchanting sceneries unfold, making it a popular leisure destination for locals in Kaohsiung.
