After China Airlines joined the SkyTeam Alliance last year, it also began selling SkyTeam’s round-the-world tickets in the Taiwanese market. One year on, nearly 100 such tickets have been sold. Prices vary depending on the total flight mileage, ranging from NT$110,000 to over NT$170,000. Compared to purchasing individual tickets, round-the-world tickets can save nearly 25% in costs. Passengers who bought these tickets range in age from 19 to 70, with most trips lasting between one and two months.

A 19-year-old traveler, Mr. Huang, embarked on his first trip around the world because his father wanted to travel and visit clients. The father and son visited the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, France, and mainland China this August, with a ticket cost of about NT$130,000 and a trip duration of roughly one month. Mr. Huang said that traveling with his father broadened his horizons and revealed many things worth exploring.
This summer, traveler Ms. Xue spent 60 days visiting Kenya, Madagascar, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Russia, Norway, France, the United States, and Mexico. Ms. Xue noted that many of these destinations are not easy to reach and are very appealing—for example, the streets of Madagascar actually resemble those in Taiwan and are not as jungle-filled as depicted in movies.

Round-the-world tickets are divided into four categories based on flight mileage: 26,000, 29,000, 33,000, and 38,000 miles. Passengers can plan their itineraries and select entry and exit points to reach destinations such as Madagascar in Africa, Russia, Mexico, and the Middle East. To celebrate the anniversary of joining the alliance, from September 28 to October 31, China Airlines will draw one lucky customer per day on its website to receive a SkyTeam-branded painted model airplane.
