During the crisp early autumn weather, following the five spring hiking routes, New Taipei City Government has introduced six autumn hiking trails ideal for seasonal outings. These include the Shiding Yong’an Trail, Pinglin Fern Trail, Jinshan Shitoushan Park Trail, Ruifang Jinzipai Ancient Trail, Yingge’s Yinggeshi Trail, and Shuangxi’s Diao Mountain Ancient Trail. The city has also combined nearby attractions such as the Ceramics Museum, Jinshan Old Street, and Houzhuang Cat Village to create six recommended itineraries. Additionally, on October 27th, an event will be held at Diao Mountain Ancient Trail, calling on a thousand energetic youths along with Olympic athlete Zeng Lücheng to hike together. The event will feature lucky draws and a local organic produce market. From 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on the day of the event, shuttle buses will also depart from Mudan Railway Station to the trailhead.

The six recommended hiking trails each have their own unique appeal. The Jinshan Shitoushan Park Trail allows visitors to explore nearby hot spring resorts and enjoy local street food. While admiring the scenic Candlestick Islets, you can also soak in Jinshan’s high-quality hot springs during the cool autumn season. The famous Houzhuang Cat Village in New Taipei City and one of Taiwan’s three major fan-shaped train stations, Mudan Railway Station, are part of the Ruifang Jinzipai and Shuangxi Diao Mountain Ancient Trail routes. These connect to attractions such as the Houzhuang Coal Mining Museum, Jiufen Old Street, the Thirteen-Level Ancient Tree, and Shuangxi Old Street, enabling hikers not only to engage in fitness activities but also to explore surrounding local sites and delve into the area’s cultural characteristics. At Shuangxi’s Diao Mountain Ancient Trail, visitors can admire vast fields of autumn silver grass, and from Fude Temple at the summit, enjoy breathtaking mountain and sea views.
In addition, from now until October 30th, the public can use the New Taipei City Hiking Website’s trail information to design creative hiking itineraries or travelogues, and upload them to the sharing section of the New Taipei Hiking Website. The first two hundred participants will have a chance to win a limited-edition “New Taipei Hiking Journey Notebook.” The list of winners will be announced on the official website on November 5th.
