1 for just 1 yuan each—Zhanghua’s winter-exclusive delicacy “Golden Egg”!

Zhanghua Tianzhong’s famous Golden Egg is only available in winter and is sold for just two hours every day from 9:00 to 11:00 am. If you go on a weekend morning, be prepared to queue!

Tianzhong’s Golden Egg is located at the intersection of Zhongzhou Road and Nanbei Street, with "Zaiyuan Oil Shop" and "XX Eyewear Company" on either side.

Sorry to inform everyone that the shop has closed until May 15th as the owner is on summer break and will reopen on October 10th!

Most of Tianzhong’s local snacks and street food are concentrated in this area. Sometimes Mom goes grocery shopping in the morning and picks up a couple of packs of Golden Eggs for us. When we go ourselves, we usually queue up for the nearby “One-Bite Pan-Fried Buns” too—they make a perfect brunch.

A pack of Golden Eggs contains 10 pieces for just 10 yuan, so each one costs only 1 yuan.It’s really rare to see prices like that these days—the owner is incredibly generous!

When we went that morning, there were about five or six people in line, and we waited roughly three minutes before it was our turn. Nowadays when shooting food content, I just use my phone to avoid drawing too much attention with a camera, which could bother other customers and affect the shop’s business.

The Golden Eggs are made by a hardworking husband-and-wife team—one person handles frying the eggs in oil, while the other takes them out and packages them.

Actually, the Golden Egg is just a sweet potato ball. The sweet potato dough is prepared at home, cut into small sections, and then each piece is dropped into the oil one by one just before frying.

I guess because the Golden Balls are deep-fried at high temperatures, and the summer heat plus the roadside location make it uncomfortable, they only sell them in winter… If they sold them in summer, it would definitely get too hot and even the owner wouldn’t be able to stand it!

Finally, it’s my turn!! Hahaha... how exciting!! Sometimes what makes street food so charming is that even a tiny Golden Ball can bring such satisfaction, filling you with immense joy...

Since I’d be having lunch not long after getting home, I only bought 20 yuan worth.

The outer layer of the Golden Egg is super crispy—you’ll hear a satisfying crunch as you bite into it. The inside is chewy. Is it the most amazing thing you’ve ever tasted? Not really, but you just can’t stop eating them… XD

Remember: Tianzhong’s Golden Egg is only sold in winter!! ^^
