To accommodate passenger flow during the 102nd Lunar New Year holiday, Taiwan Railways will operate 604 extra train services across all service levels and attach 1,403 additional cars over a 12-day period from Thursday, Feb. 7, to Monday, Feb. 18. Online, telephone, and convenience store ticket sales for reserved-seat trains on the Eastern Line (including the Yilan and South-Link lines, as well as interlined services) and the Western Line will open at midnight on Tuesday, Jan. 22, and Wednesday, Jan. 23, respectively.

The new Tze-Chiang trains will enter service just before the Spring Festival, introducing four-person table seating for a fresh travel experience. Taiwan Railways' new Tze-Chiang trains officially begin operations on Feb. 6, with the first service, Train No. 5208, running from Shulin to Hualien (departing Taipei Station at 9:40 a.m.). A total of 56 additional services will be operated during the Spring Festival travel period, providing up to 2,000 seats daily. The new Tze-Chiang trains will also feature four-person table seating for the first time, offering passengers a novel way to travel. Tickets for these seats must be purchased in sets of four online. To ease passenger traffic on the North-Link Line during the Spring Festival travel rush, Taiwan Railways will add one overnight Tze-Chiang train service from Shulin to Hualien on both Feb. 7 and 8, and one overnight service from Hualien to Shulin on Feb. 15 and 16, all offered at a 30% discount. The regular 684 and 685 services between Shulin and Taitung, originally operated by Fu-Hsing trains, will continue to offer discounted fares during the holiday (NT$200 for Taipei–Hualien and NT$350 for Taipei–Taitung). Additionally, from Feb. 9 to 17, two extra round-trip Hualiens–Shulin local express services (four runs total) will be added daily, also at discounted fares (NT$200 for Taipei–Hualien and NT$100 for Taipei–Yilan).
