The Japanese cherry blossom front begins lightly touching the southernmost point of Okinawa, then slowly moves northward. Since last year, new flight routes between Japan and Taiwan have been gradually launched. This year’s cherry blossom viewing is not limited to metropolitan areas; by choosing different entry and exit points, travelers can explore inland destinations, making cherry blossom routes more diverse. The terrain of Northeastern Japan is long and narrow, so spring arrives later there, offering scenery distinct from Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, creating a natural beauty where winter and spring coexist—thus extending the cherry blossom viewing period.

According to the cherry blossom front forecast released by the Japan Meteorological Agency, blooms are expected from March 20 to 22 in Kyushu, March 18 to 26 in Shikoku, March 24 to 29 in Chugoku, March 23 to April 2 in Kansai, March 22 to 30 in Tokai, March 25 to April 12 in Kanto, April 2 to 9 in Hokuriku, April 10 to 24 in Tohoku, and the northernmost Hokkaido from May 1 to 7.

To welcome the arrival of spring, the Northeastern region will hold the “Sendai 'Miyagi Destination Campaign” promotion from April 1 to June 30. In coordination with three flight points—Hakodate, Sendai, and Shin-Chitose—various activities are offered. These include giving out eco-bags to passengers arriving at Sendai Airport on Thursdays and Sundays from April 1 to June 30; East Japan Railway Company (JR East) is issuing the JR East Pass Special (3-day ticket) for 15,000 yen (approximately NT$4,800, originally 29,320 yen) from April 1 to June 30, and distributing local souvenirs at about 10 locations within Miyagi Prefecture including Sendai Station. Additionally, sightseeing bus services between Matsushima and Hiraizumi will be expanded along with special celebration events.
