Beitou Meiting has been open for three years since January 2010 (99th year of the Republic of China) and is about to surpass 1 million visitors this week. To celebrate the arrival of the 1 millionth visitor, the museum will present the lucky 1 millionth guest with an exclusive commemorative gift — a fine replica calligraphy piece by the Sage of Cursive Script, Master Yu Youren — along with a Meiting-exclusive commemorative gift lucky bag. The public is welcome to visit and stand a chance to become the lucky 1 millionth visitor.

Beitou Meiting is Taiwan’s first cultural and art venue primarily dedicated to showcasing the works of Yu Youren, the Sage of Cursive Script, and it also houses a tourist service center to assist visitors to Xinbeitou, making it a successful example of the revitalization and reuse of historic buildings. Since its opening, the various exhibitions, performances, and calligraphy promotion activities held here have received widespread acclaim from the public.

To celebrate the arrival of the 1 millionth visitor, a special “fine replica calligraphy piece by the Sage of Cursive Script, Master Yu Youren” is prepared, sponsored by the He Chuangshi Calligraphy Art Foundation. The calligraphy piece features the inscription by Yu Youren: “Establish the heart for Heaven and Earth, establish life for the people, continue the lost learning of past sages, and open peace for all generations,” conveying the lofty aspirations of intellectuals. In addition, the Meiting-exclusive commemorative gift lucky bag includes six limited-edition items: a Meiting creative pen case that blends the imagery of Beitou cherry blossoms and Yu Youren’s calligraphy, a DIY paper model of Meiting’s Japanese-style architecture, a USB flash drive, an L-shaped file holder, exquisite postcards, and a wooden keychain engraved with the two characters “Meiting” written by Yu Youren.
