Anthropology is a field of study focused on “human beings.” Over the past century, Taiwan’s anthropology has accumulated rich academic resources. To highlight the significant contributions of anthropology to understanding the people and land of Taiwan, and to enhance public awareness and interest in the discipline, as well as to review and share the achievements of Taiwan’s anthropological development, a special exhibition titled “The Footsteps of Anthropologists: Taiwan Anthropology Centennial Special Exhibition” has been jointly organized by nine domestic museums and academic institutions related to anthropology. The exhibition is being held until June 16th in the First Special Exhibition Room of the 13th Line Museum.

This special exhibition is divided into three main sections: “A Century in Retrospect—Taiwan Anthropology Over the Past Hundred Years,” “Field Perspectives—Anthropologists in the Field,” and “Differences and Similarities—The Diverse Concerns of Anthropology.” It examines and reviews the development trajectory of Taiwan’s anthropology over the past century and the unique contributions of anthropologists. Through the observations, records, and diverse collections gathered by anthropologists, the exhibition also invites visitors to experience Taiwan’s multicultural heritage. In addition to a wealth of documents and artifacts, the exhibition incorporates interactive elements. Using open-ended questions, it encourages visitors to engage with the issues that concern anthropologists, bridging the gap between the audience and the discipline, reflecting on unconscious biases and prejudices in daily life, and fostering greater tolerance and respect for cultural diversity.
