The showdown between the blue sperm whale and the little yellow duck that captured attention in northern and southern Taiwan in October will return in December. On Dec. 21, the little yellow duck will make its debut in Keelung, while the talked-about blue sperm whale will appear at the same time at the Gangshan Cultural Center in Kaohsiung City. This Christmas and New Year’s season, the battle between the little yellow duck and the blue sperm whale will unfold once again.

The little yellow duck, which gained popularity starting from this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, made its way from Kaohsiung up to Taoyuan and finally to Keelung. The exhibition in Keelung will begin on Dec. 21, with a total splash time of six weeks. The organizers will also collaborate with 500 local businesses to launch the Little Yellow Duck Sightseeing Passport, offering nearly NT$10,000 in discounts and deals, along with information about Keelung’s food and attractions, allowing visitors to explore the city with the passport.
The “Paper Windmill Taiwan Animals and Insects Creative Exhibition,” which debuted in October at Youth Park with the world’s largest “sperm whale-shaped themed pavilion” — nearly 70 meters long and about the size of five basketball courts — quickly drew public attention and attracted over 200,000 visitors. It will be exhibited again from Dec. 21 to Jan. 12, 2014, at the Gangshan Cultural Center in Kaohsiung City. Additionally, the exhibition offers special prices for Kaohsiung residents: NT$200 on weekends and NT$150 on weekdays. There is also a Kaohsiung MRT special package, including round-trip MRT tickets and admission, available for early purchase from Nov. 30 to Dec. 17 at NT$250 on weekends and NT$200 on weekdays. From Dec. 18 to Jan. 12, 2014, the package price will be NT$270 on weekends and NT$220 on weekdays. For detailed ticket information, please visit the event’s official website.
