To celebrate the opening of the MRT Xinyi Line, over 30 specialty coffee shops will gather at Xinyi Plaza Park next to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station on December 7th at 14:00, spreading a rich wave of coffee fragrance across Taipei City.

Taipei has the highest coffee consumption per capita in Taiwan, along with the densest distribution of cafes and chain coffee shops nationwide. On December 7th, 2013, from 14:00 to 20:30, the Taipei City Department of Economic Development will host the “2013 Taipei Coffee Masters Carnival” at Xinyi Plaza Park. Visitors can take the newly opened MRT Xinyi Line to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station, walk out of Exit 5 for 2 minutes, and arrive at Xinyi Plaza Park at the intersection of Xinyi Road and Songzhi Road — the festival site. There, they can enjoy premium specialty coffee and experience the modern urban vibe unique to Taipei: “Taipei, Music, and Coffee Aroma.”

The carnival will host over 30 booths selling unique coffee products. It also invites students from the first cohort of the “Specialty Barista” program at Taipei City Vocational Development Institute who excelled in the “2013 Coffee Professionals – Coffee Masters Competition” and earned recognition as “Specialty Baristas” from the Taipei Specialty Coffee Business Development Association. They will perform live coffee brewing competitions. The event will also feature robot-brewed coffee, free coffee tastings, popular vote contests, prize quizzes, jazz performances, and more. Even more special: only 30 cups of “Golden Harvest Coffee,” crafted on-site by master baristas with 999 pure edible gold leaf, will be offered as a free trial to lucky attendees. Additionally, 100 early-bird gift bags will be given out.
