Located in the camping area of Bali Cultural Park in New Taipei City, the Bubble Dome is a new type of campsite built with semi-transparent spherical tents, highly anticipated by outdoor enthusiasts. Today (May 27), the Bubble Dome also opened its doors to media for the first on-site photoshoot, giving the public a chance to experience its unique charm.

At first glance, the Bubble Dome looks a bit like a horizontally laid light bulb. Its top or entrance features a fully transparent film design, making it completely different from traditional tents. There’s also a Bubble Dome used as a restaurant that boldly adopts a fully transparent spherical shape—so even when you’re “indoors,” you can still feel connected to nature. Some cartoon fans have even pointed out, “It’s basically Sandy’s house from SpongeBob SquarePants!!”

Set to officially begin operations on June 1, the Bubble Dome currently has four spherical tents—two for accommodation and two for dining. Each tent is equipped with an electrical system and air conditioning, so although it’s an enclosed space, it remains cool. The sleeping tents feature a small foyer with amenities such as a sink, mini fridge, and kettle. The bedroom includes furniture like a rattan sofa, TV, and double bed. The spherical space is mostly covered with white fabric, except for the transparent plastic overhead, so outsiders can’t peek in, and you can gaze at the sky from your bed—very cozy.

The fully transparent spherical tents used as restaurants are made entirely of clear plastic, offering zero visual separation from the outside. Zhou Songzhi, the operating director of the Bubble Dome, said the Bubble Restaurant operates by reservation, and guests can book time slots. However, guests need to prepare their own food.

Since opening online reservations, the Bubble Dome has been fully booked through October. Zhou Songzhi also mentioned that in the second phase of construction, four more accommodation-style Bubble Domes will be added. Additionally, the Bali Cultural Park camping area where the Bubble Dome is located also features regular campsites. Travelers who prefer traditional camping can also pitch a tent here and enjoy the outdoor experience.

Bubble Dome Information
1. Pricing:
Weekdays: NT$2,600 per dome, Weekends: NT$3,300 per dome, includes up to 4 guests and 1 parking space. Extra person on the bed costs NT$300 each. For the general camping area, each campsite is NT$800 on weekdays and NT$1,000 on weekends, not including tent.

2. Can I bring pets?
Pets are not allowed in the Bubble Dome.

3. Can I have a barbecue, cook outdoors, or set off fireworks?
Due to concerns over odor and safety, outdoor cooking and barbecues are not recommended. Fireworks and firecrackers are strictly prohibited.

4. Is there karaoke equipment?
No

5. Is the Bubble Dome public or private?
Bubble Nest is a public-private partnership facility. The Bali Cultural Park Camping Area in New Taipei City, where it is located, is the first publicly operated camping site established by the New Taipei City Government.

6. Can I smoke?
Smoking is not allowed inside Bubble Nest.

7. How can I shower or use the restroom?
There are no bathing facilities inside Bubble Nest, but the campsite has separate male and female showers and restrooms. Basic toiletries are also provided in Bubble Nest.

8. Is there a water source?
There are sinks inside Bubble Nest and also outside. The camp management office provides both cold and hot drinking water.

9. Is there electricity in the room?
There are 4 power outlets inside Bubble Nest, and an additional 3 outlets in the Bubble Restaurant.

10. Is it very hot inside Bubble Nest?
The air conditioning runs all day inside Bubble Nest, making it cooler than traditional tents. However, based on the reporter’s on-site experience, due to the transparent ceiling design, it can still get quite sunny and hot when the sun is strong.

11. What are the living hours?
The campsite is open to the public daily from 08:00 to 22:00; check-in time for guests is from 15:00 to 12:00 the next day; hot water in the bathrooms is available from 17:00 to 22:00; the convenience store is open from 08:00 to 21:00.

12. What if I get hungry? Where can I buy food?
There is a convenience store in the campsite. Instant noodles cost between NT$23 and NT$53 per bowl; bottled drinks start at NT$20 each, with prices similar to those found elsewhere. A 24-hour convenience store is a 5-minute drive away.

13. Safety and privacy
The park has regular security patrols, and the doors of Bubble Nest are equipped with code locks. However, the transparent ceiling offers no privacy, which may make some guests feel less secure. Additionally, as the exterior walls are only fabric, sound insulation is similar to that of a regular tent.

14. Transportation within the park
Electric bicycle rental services are currently being planned for Bubble Nest, with further details to be announced later.
