Who are the world’s best chains that keep Starbucks out of the top three?

Recently, CNN released a ranking of the world’s 20 best chains, and the results showed that not only did Starbucks fail to make the top three, but McDonald’s came in third, second place went to Taiwan’s Din Tai Fung, and the top spot was claimed by 7-Eleven.

In this list, the top three are 7-Eleven from the United States, Din Tai Fung from Taiwan, and McDonald’s from the United States. The biggest reason 7-Eleven took the crown is its widespread presence—its stores can be found in numerous corners of cities, easily meeting travelers’ needs for buying a bottle of water or small items.

 

As for second-place Din Tai Fung, it forms a sharp contrast with 7-Eleven. With only 88 global outlets, Din Tai Fung’s thin-skinned, juicy xiaolongbao left a deep impression on CNN reporters. Once ranked among the world’s top ten restaurants, Din Tai Fung’s strict quality control is its most reassuring feature—no dish falls short of expectations. In addition to xiaolongbao, steamed dumplings, egg-fried rice, and beef noodles are also popular among Japanese customers. High-quality service ensures a pleasant dining experience. McDonald’s secured third place.

 

Fourth place goes to the well-known coffee chain Starbucks. Ranks five through ten are Four Seasons Hotels, MOS Burger, Muji, KFC, Dunkin' Donuts, and KidZania. Places eleven to twenty are DFS Galleria, Hilton Hotels, Subway, Tim Hortons, Wagamama, Marks & Spencer, Panda Express, Outback Steakhouse, Europcar, and Cinnabon.
