Spring is a season when nature shows its charm. The calla lilies in Zhuzihu, Taipei City, are in full bloom, the wisteria in Ruili, Chiayi, is also bursting with vibrant colors, and the Yilan Green Expo is making its debut this weekend, inviting visitors to enjoy the natural greenery. In addition, the 1600 Paper Pandas Exhibition is coming to an end this Sunday, while Kaohsiung’s 2014 Art Imagination Carnival kicks off this weekend. Netizens looking to spend a relaxing holiday in the city can also join in the fun.

Taipei City — 1600 Paper Pandas Exhibition
The second phase of “1600 Pandas World Tour – Taipei” is on display from now until March 30 at the National Theater and Concert Hall Plaza. In addition to the army of 1600 paper pandas, there are also 200 Taiwanese black bears that did not appear in the first phase. The exhibition is open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and admission is free.

Taipei City — Zhuzihu Calla Lily Season
The annual spring highlight of Yangmingshan National Park — the Zhuzihu Calla Lily Season,from nowuntil April 27 at Zhuzihu, features not only five recommended riverside trails by the Taipei City Government Public Works Department’s Earth Engineering Office for visitors to stroll along and enjoy the natural phytoncides while leisurely immersing themselves in the sea of white calla lilies, but also the “Zhuzihu Eco-Tour Activity” route planned by the Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters. Led by professional guides, visitors can explore the local cultural and traditional industries, experiencing the unique natural and humanistic features and scenery of the area.

Chiayi County — Ruili “Wisteria Season”
March sees the end of peach and plum blossoms, and the “Wisteria Season” in Ruili, Chiayi County, also begins from now until March 30. The swaying beauty of wisteria gently touched by the breeze is a unique scenic charm of Ruili in Meishan Township, Chiayi County. This year’s flower season not only recommends 15 viewing spots for visitors but also invites actress Makiri Okubo to serve as the spokesperson, with a promotional video for the flower season now available online.

Kaohsiung City — 2014 Art Imagination Carnival
The 2014 Art Imagination Carnival will take place on March 29–30 at Dream Mall, a festive event jointly organized by the Kaohsiung City Government Information Bureau and Dream Mall. Themed “Spinning the Colorful Dreams of France,” this year’s carnival specially invites art troupes from France and the United States to collaborate across borders. Highlights include a parade of 35 floats such as the “Flame Steel Pirate Ship,” a children’s “Animal Carnival” street performance, the Art Imagination Market, and a community float parade at Xinqijiang. Citizens are welcome to experience this colorful carnival this weekend.
