The 1,600 paper pandas, popular with both children and adults, have been strolling all over Taipei’s streets—not only visiting the city’s past (like the Taipei Water Museum, Bopiliao Historic Block, and 44 South Village) and present (such as Dunhua South Boulevard, the Taipei Flower Expo Park, and the Da’an Forest Park MRT Station), but also, before bidding farewell to Taipei and heading to the countryside, they made a special early visit to Taipei’s future—the Children’s New Amusement Park.

The outdoor public art exhibition “1600 Pandas World Tour—Taipei” came to an end at the end of March. Before leaving Taipei, the paper pandas and paper black bears made a special flash appearance early yesterday (21st) at the large bathhouse of Beitou Hot Spring Museum to enjoy a fun hot spring experience. In the afternoon, they popped by the Children’s New Amusement Park, which will open this year, to try out more than ten amusement facilities in advance, including “Sea Creatures Marching” and “Spinning Coffee Cups,” having a blast. In the evening, colorful lights made it hard for the “pandas” to leave.

The Taipei City Government stated that the Taipei Children’s New Amusement Park, covering five hectares in Shilin, is set to open this year. Not only does it offer more amusement facilities than the current Yuanshan Children’s Amusement Center—with a total of 13 major rides, including the Fruit Ferris Wheel, Jungle Roar Treehouse, Starry Sky UFO, Happy Bumper Cars, Magic Space Roller Coaster, Patrol Flying Chairs, and Cosmic Carousel—but the new park also has a more “three-dimensional” layout. The four-story park is divided into four major zones: “Happy Land,” “Fantasy Forest & Dream Sea,” “Magic Planet,” and “Toy Kingdom,” aiming to create a joyful treasure chest for children.
