Having left Taiwan for the U.S. many years ago, Xu Yuhua wandered through dreams, capturing joyful childhood memories in Taiwan and a tribute to life through her art. No matter who you are or where you're from, just gather around the large "banzhuo" round table, and we become one family. Surrounded by familiar fairy tale characters from childhood and beloved Taiwanese foods that expatriates miss the most, we are reminded to cherish fleeting moments of beauty and to more deeply appreciate the simple, unpretentious local culture that has grown with us—bringing purity and joy.

Taiwan-born Martin Hsu (Xu Yuhua) now resides in San Francisco. For the past decade, he has dedicated himself wholeheartedly to highly personal artistic creation, and can be considered one of the most active Asian artists on the U.S. West Coast. After earning an animation degree from CSUF in the U.S., he began working on character design for Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. In recent years, Martin has participated multiple times in exhibitions hosted by major American media including Sanrio, Warner Bros., and Disney.

In the In Dreams "Wanderlust" series, Little Red Riding Hood heads to her grandmother’s house with her wolf friend to deliver a fragrant packed lunch of braised pork rice. Meanwhile, little Alice gets distracted on her way to school, following a motorbike-riding white rabbit, and ends up with a giant bubble tea—the Mad Hatter’s special—before meeting the temperamental Queen of Hearts around the corner. Everyone sits down together to enjoy a warm bowl of lovingly made vermicelli, before drifting off to sleep once again.

Winding along a small path, immerse yourself in the nostalgic scenes of the peony garden, surrounded by familiar characters from childhood and delicious foods, as you revisit those bedtime fairy tales you never tired of hearing. It reminds us to cherish all beautiful moments and to once again fully feel and enjoy the simple, unpretentious local culture and pure joy that has grown with us.
