Situated in Jiji Town, Nantou County, the 【Council of Agriculture’s Endemic Species Research Institute】 is promoting green economy development. By adopting the “experts leading the way” approach, it invites travel personalities concerned with ecological conservation to design local eco-tourism routes. This helps foster ecological awareness, promotes green economic growth, revitalizes the local economy, and boosts momentum.It will specially launch three “Experts Lead the Way – Group Trips” guided tour events from late August to the end of September, taking participants to explore the beauty of Taiwan’s ecology. Following the steps of eco-experts, the public will gain a deeper perspective on discovering the beauty of Taiwan.

The expert-led guided tour events include8/30 (Sat) “Exploring the Hometown of the Formosan Clouded Leopard in Sanyi” with eco-writer Liu Kexiang, 9/20-9/21 (Sat-Sun) “Qubing-Wujie Tribal Eco-Tour” led by tribal eco-expert Malan, and 9/27 (Sat) “Deep Fern Appreciation Tour in the Snow Mountain Range” guided by fern enthusiast Peng Shengyu. Follow in the footsteps of the experts,and deeply experience the local ecological charm, all while gaining a fresh outlook on life.

Followeco-writer Liu Kexiang as he strolls through the homeland of the Formosan clouded leopard — Sanyi, starting from the Artemisia Ancient Trail. Along the way, visit the Flame Mountains Forest Ecology Education Center for a vivid talk on the Formosan clouded leopard, step into “Hua Tao Yao” to enjoy a traditional rice harvest meal, and observe nearly 530 species of Taiwan’s native plants within the park. Explore the area from a humanistic angle to delve into the ecological world; thenfollow Malan to visit the forgotten tribe — Qubing & Wujie, a lesser-known yet somewhat familiar name. This Bunun tribe, tucked away in Ren’ai Township, Nantou, is like a paradise on earth, with mountains winding around and mist drifting ethereally. The scenery along the way is stunning, featuring vast mixed forests and a complex, diverse geographical environment. The climate ranges from temperate to subtropical, resulting in a rich and varied ecosystem; finally, joinfern enthusiast Peng Shengyu in venturing into a new hidden gem for exploration. The Fistum Trail and Usnea Trail in the Snow Mountain Range serve as ecological classrooms abundant in ferns, where an in-depth fern appreciation journey unfolds through expert-guided interpretation.
