Many people dream of seeing Taiwan’s highest peak — Yushan. Especially if you’ve never been, consider visiting the New Central Cross-Island Highway and Tatachia area in the Yushan range to see the soon-to-disappear Twin Trees and the massive Lulin Sacred Tree. You can also walk a short section of the Batongguan Historic Trail and the Chayi South Yanping Mountain Trail, visit the Beimen Cypress Life Village, and the next day enjoy the cool mountain air and the beautiful scenery of Tatachia.

II. Fairyland on Earth — Explore the Hidden Charms of Qubing & Wujie Tribe and Enjoy a BBQ

An ecology expert takes you behind the veil of the forgotten tribe [Qubing & Wujie], a name that sounds both unfamiliar and familiar. Nestled within Ren’ai Township in Nantou, the Wujie Tribe lies downstream from the famed Aowanda Maple Forest in Nantou County. It is one of the few northern Bunun tribes, sitting at an altitude of about 750 meters. Surrounded by high mountains and pristine valleys, its landscape is as beautiful as a fairyland or a hidden paradise — the “Cloud Homeland.” Untouched by crowds, it retains its original beauty and the most genuine essence of Bunun culture, resembling a serene paradise. Exploring the tranquil and unspoiled Wujie Tribe reveals many natural wonders and divine landscapes that can’t be found elsewhere — a true hidden gem worth discovering.

Watching the Clouds Rise — view the sea of clouds and cloud waterfalls. Located at an elevation of 1400–1600 meters, the tea plantations sit at the boundary of high-altitude climate systems, just high enough to look down upon the low-lying clouds. A vast and majestic sea of clouds spreads out before your eyes, and if you’re lucky, you might even witness the rare cloud waterfall unique to high-altitude regions. Watch as white clouds cascade down the mountainside like silk, resembling a grand waterfall — truly breathtaking. On clear days, the overlapping mountain ranges stretch as far as the eye can see, resembling an ink painting that comes alive, forming a moving work of art.
