Kaohsiung is about to get a new highlight again. As camping tourism grows in popularity, the Kaohsiung City Government has transformed five hectares of long-idle land at the Shao-Kang military camp into a public green space for residents, which officially opens on June 1.

The Shao-Kang Campsite was originally owned by the Taiwan Sugar Corporation. In order to provide the public with more green space as soon as possible, after coordination, the Taiwan Sugar Corporation provided five hectares of green space, which was officially opened on June 1. In addition, to accelerate park development, the Taiwan Sugar Corporation will provide an additional 10 hectares of park space. It is planned to prioritize the development of Kaohsiung’s largest southern forest park before the city’s redevelopment project is completed, offering nearby leisure space for residents in the Xiaogang area.
