Yangmingshan Flower Festival: A Blossom Spectacle of Cherry Blossoms, Daffodils, and Camellias

The Yangmingshan Flower Festival began on February 7, and the highly anticipated cherry blossoms are now in full bloom. The 8,000 daffodils in the Lakeside Green Space Daffodil Area are also a major attraction, with their sea of white blooms and fragrant daffodils drawing large crowds of flower lovers. With the 228 holiday approaching, it provides visitors with an ideal spring destination for flower appreciation.

Among the annually popular Yangmingshan Flower Festival, the pale pink and elegant Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms in front of the visitor center are especially eye-catching, with the best viewing period from late February to early March. The Showa cherry blossoms around the fountain also make a delicate appearance, prompting visitors to eagerly capture beautiful photos of the blossoms. A total of 3,200 cherry trees await visitors along the path from the entrance to the Flower Clock and throughout the park. Near the Yangmingshan Yangde Boulevard, beside the gas station of Chinese Culture University, the Floral Experiment Center features blooming camellias and 80 Showa cherry trees. The pale pink Hirado azaleas are also shyly coming into bloom, making it a highly worthwhile visit.

Due to the significant increase in visitors heading up Yangmingshan to enjoy the flowers during the festival, traffic control measures have been implemented in the surrounding areas, with adjustments to control times and zones based on real-time traffic conditions in the mountain region:

1. Uphill Control Point (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, excluding private cars and trucks with permits): “Intersection of Yangde Boulevard and Zhicheng Road.”

2. Downhill Control Point (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM): “Intersection of Yangming Road and Zhongheng Street.”

3. Flexible Control Points: Four locations including “Intersection of Gezhi Road and Jing Mountain Road,” “Intersection of Yangming Road and Xinyuan Street,” “Intersection of Xingyi Road and Quanyuan Road,” and “Lane 71, Section 3, Zhishan Road.”

During the 228 holiday period until March 1, and on March 7, 8, 14, and 15, the uphill control hours are extended from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with control points at Fuxing Bridgehead and Lane 1, Section 2, Zhishan Road. The downhill control hours are from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the control point at Lane 43, Section 1, Yangming Road.The Taipei City Police Department reminds flower-viewing visitors that due to limited parking space on the mountain, to avoid inconvenience or traffic congestion that may dampen the experience, the public is encouraged to use public transportation as much as possible. Festival shuttle buses can be boarded at Taipei Main Station, Metro Jiantan Station, Shilin Station, Shipai Station, and Beitou Station.

It’s particularly worth mentioning that the Taipei City Parks and Street Lights Office has launched Yangmingshan Park’s first-ever Hanami (flower viewing picnic) event, allowing flower lovers from around the world to enjoy a relaxing picnic amid an internationally recognized ecological environment.
