The Berlin Film Festival competition film "Damn the Order," starring Nordic film icon Stellan Skarsgård, follows a father who loses his son and, in seeking revenge, accidentally becomes entangled in a gang battle. Unexpectedly, this makes his revenge mission even more exhilarating. The movie was filmed in the northern country of Norway, featuring many stunning snowy scenes that are truly breathtaking. The protagonist is snowplow driver Nils, who takes viewers on a tour of the snow-covered nation’s unique natural landscapes from the cab of his plow.

The main filming location was Jotunheimen National Park. The Jotunheimen Mountains are the highest in Norway, and the entire range is a national park with well-equipped ski facilities. Take the cable car and you can reach any point on the mountain to start skiing—it's one of the must-visit destinations for skiers. Norway boasts many stunning natural wonders, and Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) is a popular attraction. It's a roughly 25-square-meter natural rock formation that draws visitors from far and wide because it juts out 604 meters vertically above the sea. In Norwegian, Preikestolen means "Pulpit Rock" or "The Pulpit," but this natural wonder, located at such a high altitude, also offers sweeping views of the Lysefjord below—its grandeur in the Nordic world heritage landscape is simply irresistible. Nordic architecture has many fascinating features. To capture the scenes of snowflakes swirling through the sky and warm buildings standing in the vast snowy landscape, "Damn the Order" was filmed in the Valdres Mountains of Norway. Valdres is the only place in the Nordic region where you can find medieval wooden churches, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These wooden churches were once private places of worship for noble families. The most famous is the Urnes Stave Church, built around 1130 AD, making it the oldest surviving stave church and also the most intricately decorated.

Speaking of World Heritage Sites, you can’t miss Bergen, a hub of distinctive architecture and Norway’s second-largest city. Its most unique feature is the many historic houses along the coast, clustered in a town called Bryggen. Although several fires have destroyed most of the buildings, the main architectural style remains intact.The earth-toned wooden houses make visitors feel as if they’ve stepped back into an elegant and timeless era of old Scandinavia.
