The annual Miaoli Fire Dragon series of events officially kicks off from February 27 to March 7. The first event is the Eye-Dotting Ceremony and Dragon Dance Competition on February 27. After the start of spring, auspicious dragons will gather in front of Yuching Temple Square for a grand celebration.

 

The exciting "Folk Parade" held at 6 p.m. on March 6 has always been the highlight of the Miaoli Fire Dragon Festival. This year, to enhance the spectacle, in addition to eight uniquely themed dragon teams, the event specially invites the world’s only all-female Eight Generals Dance troupe "Chiayi Flame Dance Troupe," Taiwan's first-ever appearance of the "Fire Phoenix," and the exceptional participation of "Shangri-La Amusement Park." The parade will start from Miaoli City’s Triangle Park, march along Zhongzheng Road, and end at Miaoli Railway Station. Additionally, to attract younger participants, this year features a "Dragon Cosplay" competition and opens the parade to the public as part of the "Dragon-Loving Citizens’ Parade Team."

The grand finale of the Miaoli Fire Dragon Festival, the "Fire Dragon Night,"3is scheduled for7the evening of the 8th. In addition to the spectacular annual display of "thousands of firecrackers set off simultaneously," this year will feature an expanded "Fire Dragon Public Experience Zone," allowing spectators (especially those from out of town) who usually only watch to personally experience the thrill and excitement of the Fire Dragon. According to tradition, the divine dragon must be sent back to the heavens on the 17th day of the first lunar month. Therefore, immediately after the Fire Dragon activities conclude, the Dragon Transformation Ceremony will take place. Before the ceremony, award-winning entries from this year’s “Fire Dragon Microfilm” competition will be screened.
