Daytime admire tung blossoms, nighttime watch fireflies – Camping at Nanzhuang in Miaoli is all the rage

Spring transitions into summer and flowers bloom in full splendor, although the most beautiful "May Snow" tung blossoms have quietly faded, but the snow-white beauty still carpets the mountains of Miaoli’s Nanzhuang. Paired with the night sprites – fireflies – dancing freely among the trees in early summer, aside from day trips to enjoy the scenery, camping has become increasingly popular recently. If you come to Nanzhuang, you can visit the Linquan Camping Area to temporarily escape the hustle and bustle of the city, slow down your travel pace, and have a weekend rendezvous with tung blossoms and fireflies.

The Nanzhuang Linquan Camping Area – “Linquan” refers to the realm of forested mountains and springs. The scenery lives up to its name, aiming to provide travelers with a serene spiritual sanctuary for relaxation. With emerald green lawns and verdant woods, everyone can surrender themselves to nature, wander through the forest, and return to the calmest state of mind. The Linquan campsite is located within the Nanzhang Leisure Agriculture Area in Nanzhuang. The park is home to precious 40-year-old Taiwania cryptomerioides tree clusters, cherry blossom woods, maple trees, camellia trees, and expansive surrounding tung blossom forests. In spring, the May Snow blankets the white mountain peaks; in summer, the fireflies accompany you to sleep; in autumn, cicadas chirp amid red maples; in winter, cherry blossoms and camellias compete in beauty – each season offers a different view. Currently, the tung blossoms are in full bloom, and the park has implemented nighttime lighting restrictions until May 15th, during which time thousands of fireflies can be seen darting through the woods, their glowing lights creating a breathtaking spectacle.
