As summer arrives, not to be outshone by the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival, the Mashagou Sand Sculpture Exhibition grandly opened on June 20 and is expected to run until the end of August. It features six major themed sand sculptures, starring cross-generational anime characters, aiming to create a classic nostalgic sand sculpture coastal amusement park. In addition, it has built the largest water park in southern Taiwan, offering water slides and other aquatic facilities, inviting everyone to come together for a cool summer!

This year’s Mashagou Sand Sculpture Exhibition focuses on a nostalgic theme,6with the six major themed sand sculptures featuring widely recognized anime protagonists; the largest piece, standing4meters tall and6-7meters wide, is themed “A Battle of Justice Fought with Passion” and includes superheroes from the childhoods of those born in the 1960s and 1970s such as Mazinger Z and Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, as well as Dragon Ball inspired by Journey to the West, and Bread Man, who has40years of history and exudes a strong vintage charm. Located at the entrance of the sandy beach, it allows visitors to see “sand”-level artworks right away.

Other themes include “Shared Love for Local Taiwanese Flavor,” starring the nationally beloved glove puppetry-Cloud Gate's Great Confucian Knight, Shi Yanwen, Zang Jingren, as well as pioneers of local comics like Zhuge Silang, A San Ge, and Da Shan Po. “Shared Girlhood Fantasies” spotlights protagonists from the classic cartoon Sailor Moon, including Usagi, Rini, and Chibi Maruko-chan. “Shared Quest for Emotional Belonging” features the stories of Xiao Ying and the loyal dog Snowy. “Shared Thrilling Team Camaraderie” showcases the hilarious yet action-packed Slam Dunk and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. “Shared Touching Fantasy Dreams” draws inspiration from the Japanese animated film My Neighbor Totoro and the universally loved Doraemon. With six major themes and a grand gathering of nostalgic anime, glove puppetry, and other classic characters, the exhibition is full of childlike fun and will take everyone down memory lane to their childhoods.

In addition, aside from the lifelike sand sculptures, there are also currently trending bubble soccer, water slides, splash pools, space balls, shaped donuts, double inflatable boats, and other water facilities. This year, the park has added many new water attractions, hoping to establish Mashagou as a large-scale water park in southern Taiwan, providing visitors with a cool and fun water play destination.
