In June 2014, the Oigawa Railway in Shizuoka Prefecture launched Asia’s first “Thomas the Tank Engine” steam train, attracting numerous tourists, railfans, and fans of Thomas to come and ride. The seats were in extremely high demand. In 2015, Thomas returned on June 7 and was scheduled to run until October 12 — a total of 74 days.
