Hualien’s beautiful natural scenery has always been loved by both domestic and international tourists. In addition to the recently reopened hidden gem Miku Muyu, here is a list of other must-visit beautiful spots in Hualien. Seize your holiday and bring this list to conquer them one by one!

● Liushishi Mountain
From August to October every year is the blooming season of golden needle flowers in Hualien. The bright yellow flowers cover the mountainsides, weaving a dazzling golden blanket that attracts many flower-viewing visitors. The pavilion at the highest point, Wangyou Pavilion, is the best spot to watch the sunrise, while the Little Switzerland Viewpoint below also offers a great vantage point. In addition, the farmland landscape of Liushishi Mountain has unique features all year round. Visiting during off-peak seasons allows you to see the lush greenery on sunny days, a dreamy, fairy-tale-like scene in the mist, and a star-studded sky with the Milky Way overhead at night.

● Miku Muyu
Miku Muyu is considered the most dreamlike hidden scenic spot in Hualien. The name Miku Muyu originates from the language of the Truku people. The earliest Truku tribe members who migrated here used their language to praise this beautiful paradise. In July 2014, landslides caused by a typhoon led to the closure of the trail, but mountain entry applications reopened in June 2015.Currently, entry is only permitted for hiking and fitness purposes, and general vehicles are not allowed.

● Songyuan Detached House
Built during the Japanese colonial period, Songyuan Detached House was once the office of the Japanese Army's “Military Affairs Department.” It offers excellent sea views. Dozens of old pine trees within the premises provide cool shade amidst the greenery. Enjoying coffee under the shade or sitting on wooden chairs listening to the whispers of the pine trees are wonderful experiences. Even on weekdays, you’ll often see tourists strolling around.
● Xiuguluan River
The Xiuguluan River is Taiwan’s most famous whitewater rafting destination. Originating at the border between Hualien and Taitung, it stretches approximately 90 kilometers. Its winding river channels and elevation drops create exciting rapids, adding an extra thrill to rafting.
