The Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau has successfully cultivated "king water lilies" in Lotus Pond for the first time, allowing visitors to admire the magnificent sight of king water lilies covering the pond surface besides going to Tainan. Recently, in conjunction with the current peak butterfly season at Jinshi Lake Butterfly Garden, the Kaohsiung City Government has launched a "Lotus Viewing and Butterfly Appreciation" city mini-trip, enabling everyone to take a short holiday to enjoy an ecological journey at Lotus Pond and Jinshi Lake Butterfly Garden.

This year, the Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau introduced "king water lilies" for the first time in the lotus pond next to the cable waterskiing area on the south side of Lotus Pond. Currently, the king water lilies in the pond are in full bloom, with leaf diameters reaching up to 150 cm, leaving visitors amazed. The "king water lily" is an aquatic plant of the water lily family, known for its giant disc-shaped leaves, diverse flower colors, and strong fragrance. The leaves float on the water surface, with diameters of up to 1 to 3 meters, and the leaf edges curl upward, about 7-10 cm high. Most remarkably, the leaf surface of the king water lily can support the weight of three children (50-70 kg), which is quite interesting.However, for safety reasons, the king water lilies in Lotus Pond are currently not open for public use, only for viewing and photography.
