Major flooding causes passenger inconvenience; Taoyuan Airport sets up 24-hour hotline to address concerns

Taoyuan Airport Corporation has specially added a 24-hour customer service hotline in response to the flooding at Terminal 2 on June 2 caused by thunderstorms, which affected some passengers. The hotline is available for those who suffered inconvenience during the storm to call and report their issues. The hotline number is: 03-273-1999, with staff available around the clock to assist.

Regarding the current recovery efforts at the airport, power has been further restored in Terminal 2, including six boarding bridge ramps and elevators on the north side, air conditioning in Concourse D, as well as electricity in the B2 food court. However, the food court is expected to reopen for normal business tomorrow (June 5) as shops are still undergoing disinfection and cleaning. Other power systems are being progressively restored by the airport company following the professional recommendations of Taipower, aiming to fully restore air conditioning power supply today.

During an inspection, the Ministry of Transportation urged Taoyuan Airport Corporation to continue accelerating recovery efforts. It also specifically instructed the airport to complete all flood prevention preparations today in anticipation of possible heavy rainfall in the coming days. Key tasks include a comprehensive inspection of airport drainage facilities, mobilizing and preparing pumps, sandbags, generators, and other disaster relief resources, as well as deploying them in priority areas prone to disasters and along the overflow routes from this incident. Measures must not rely on a single line of defense. Rainfall levels should be closely monitored, and pumping operations should be initiated immediately upon reaching alert thresholds. Construction sites must also be cleared promptly to prevent debris accumulation that could obstruct drainage. A dedicated task force should be established to oversee emergency responses, develop inspection plans for regular patrols, and establish a joint prevention mechanism with local governments to maximize overall disaster prevention capacity and prevent further incidents.
