Unlike many modern homestays that pursue contemporary aesthetics and stylish décor, ZhuoYe Cottage embraces simplicity by replicating the single-story bamboo houses commonly found in Taiwan’s rural villages during the 1960s. The resort is designed to recreate the concept of a traditional rural settlement. The cozy and charming barn-like residences may have reinforced concrete interiors, but their window frames, porches, and roofs are all made of wood and bamboo, giving them the genuine appearance of old countryside homes.

The cottage is not only full of character, but its natural surroundings also embody the homestay’s philosophy of living in harmony with nature. It offers organic and healthy meals, and wastewater is filtered using eco-friendly methods. In line with energy-saving efforts, fuel is made from construction waste, deadwood, and bamboo segments, used to steam traditional red turtle cakes in a large hearth. Guests can also experience traditional cooking methods while achieving environmental benefits. Additionally, the design minimizes exposure to strong winds, and the use of electric lights and air conditioning is reduced to help guests feel closer to nature.
