Remember the once hugely popular cartoon "Popeye the Sailor"? Popeye’s adventures accompanied many people through their childhoods. Every time he fought his rival Bluto, all it took was a big bite of spinach for him to turn the tables and win Olive Oyl’s heart once again. In the real world, there is actually a Popeye-themed village in Southern Europe where visitors can step right into the cartoon world and relive those childhood memories.

Popeye Village is located on the northwest coast of the southern European island nation of Malta. It was initially built in 1979 as a film set for the live-action movie version of "Popeye." The construction, which took seven months, included 19 wooden houses. Since there were no forests locally, all building materials were imported from the Netherlands. The small village features a barber shop, bakery, sawmill, post office, and even a cemetery. All the houses are painted in bright, vibrant colors to fully recreate the sweet and charming port village from the cartoon.

Today, it has become a highly popular theme park. Various fun activities are organized throughout different seasons and holidays, such as outdoor barbecues, mini-golf, or Santa Claus parades during Christmas. Within the park, visitors can enjoy Popeye movies at the cinema or explore the cartoon characters’ rooms, allowing everyone to dive back into the cartoon dreams of their childhood.
