With the New Year’s holiday just around the corner, have you decided how to welcome 2016? To accommodate travelers during the New Year’s holiday, the Alishan Forest Railway will operate two round-trips daily between Chiayi and Fenchihu from January 1st to 3rd, 105 (2016). Tickets for all services will go on sale for phone reservations starting at 8:00 AM on December 18th, 104 (2015). The Zhushan Sunrise Train tickets will also be available for purchase starting December 10th.

To transport passengers traveling to Zhushan to witness the first light of 105 (2016), the Zhushan Sunrise Train will begin operations at 2:20 AM. A total of 16 outbound trips are planned, but only seven specific services—trains 51, 53, 55, 57, 59, 61, and 63—will accept phone reservations for group bookings of 20 or more people, with 250 seats available per trip. For the return journey (from Zhushan to Alishan), 10 trips will be available, and passengers may choose any return service, with 150 seats available for pre-sale per trip.

According to Taiwan Railways Administration, group reservations for the Zhushan Sunrise Train can be made via phone starting at 9:00 AM on December 10th, 104 (2015), with a limit of 100 tickets per call until sold out. Individual travelers may purchase tickets in person at the Chiayi Station ticket office on the first floor from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on December 31st, 104 (2015), with a limit of 10 tickets per person until sold out.
