Presidential election fever: Tsai Ing-wen’s campaign HQ becomes a popular attraction

As summer arrives, the daytime sky is clear and cloudless, while the night sky is filled with starry galaxies. Taitung boasts vast open land, along with its sparse population and light pollution-free environment, making it easy to enjoy a sky full of stars even on the plains—perfect for stargazing.

Below is information on the campaign headquarters of the three candidates (introduced in numerical order):

 
The campaign headquarters of the Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Eric Chu is located next to the KMT Central Headquarters. It is a prefabricated structure that opened on December 5, 2015. The exterior wall of the KMT headquarters building has also been updated with Eric Chu’s campaign slogan “ONE TAIWAN” and image advertisements. Inside the campaign headquarters, there are service personnel and volunteer moms, along with large banners of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates Eric Chu and Wang Ju-hsuan, as well as an illuminated “ONE TAIWAN” installation that allows voters and visitors to take commemorative photos. The campaign headquarters has also been visited by overseas youth network inspection groups.

In order to boost tourism, Taitung County Government launched Taiwan’s first “Taitung County’s Most Beautiful Starry Sky Selection,” transforming the twinkling starry skies into a viable tourism resource.
