Thailand has always been a beloved travel destination for Taiwanese, but from now on, visitors should pay extra attention when entering the country. The Thai government is considering doubling the visa on arrival fee from the original 1,000 THB to 2,000 THB.

The Thai authorities stated that as an increasing number of tourists opt for the visa on arrival, this has led to congestion at airports and added pressure on immigration checkpoints, further creating security loopholes. Therefore, in order to reduce the workload of visa on arrival personnel and prevent unauthorized entry, the government is proposing to raise the visa on arrival fee to 2,000 THB. This proposed increase has already been approved by the Thai Cabinet and the exact implementation date will be announced after royal endorsement.
