Sun Zhenkai, a 9-year-old boy from Huangchuan Town, Donghai County, Jiangsu Province, is the middle child of triplets. The once carefree childhood of the triplets and their sister

Unexpectedly, we were welcomed by the triplet brothers’ 8-month pregnant aunt, who was staying at home awaiting childbirth. Crying, she called relatives and friends to tell them something. It turned out that on August 17th, Zhenkai’s grandmother, unable to bear the dual pressures of life and spirit, suffered a sudden cerebral infarction and fell into a coma, requiring hospitalization. The four children were temporarily cared for by the 8-month pregnant aunt and the 18-year-old cousin. Because the family was fully focused on treating the grandmother, Zhenkai’s occasional fever went untreated until his condition worsened and he lapsed into a coma for several days before being urgently sent to the county hospital. He was diagnosed with acute meningitis. The grandmother and grandson were admitted to the City No.1 People’s Hospital for emergency treatment in late August. By August 31st, the grandmother had regained consciousness but remained disoriented. As of September 2nd, little Zhenkai was still in a coma and had not been out of critical condition. He was currently diagnosed with Japanese encephalitis.
In just half a month, everything that could be sold in the household was sold off. Zhenkai’s aunt borrowed money everywhere, but it was still a drop in the bucket, far from enough to cover the daily medical expenses of around 7,000 yuan for the grandmother and grandson.
