Organized by Beijing Bei’ao Exhibition Co., Ltd. and guided by the Chinese Underwater Sports Association, the 2013 Beijing International Leisure Diving & Resort Exhibition took place from September 6 to 8 at the National Aquatics Center (Water Cube) in Beijing. As the largest professional diving industry exhibition in North China, it comprised four key segments: diving education, diving products, diving tourism, and marine conservation. The exhibition attracted over 40 exhibitors from both domestic and international markets, with an expected attendance of more than 10,000 visitors. During the event, a variety of supporting activities—including underwater photography exhibitions, thematic lectures, and brand promotions—were held to create a comprehensive leisure diving experience.
The exhibition featured the following highlights:
1. Officially supported by the Chinese Diving Association and held in the iconic venue of China’s aquatic sports—the Water Cube.
From its inception, the diving exhibition received strong backing from the Chinese Underwater Sports Association and secured a venue partnership with the Water Cube, an iconic site from the 2008 Olympics. With the involvement of these authoritative bodies, the exhibition not only served to promote the diving industry but also aimed to standardize the market and advance the sport. At the opening ceremony, leaders from the Chinese Underwater Sports Association, Beijing State-owned Assets Management Co., Ltd., the National Aquatics Center, Beijing Bei’ao Group, and Beijing Bei’ao Exhibition Co., Ltd. all attended and delivered speeches, lending significant weight and authority to the event.
2. Participation by renowned diving industry brands, drawing the largest gathering of professional diving audiences in North China.
The diving exhibition brought together well-known exhibitors such as Scubapro, Tusa, Aqua Lung, SEACAM NAUTICAM, Fengying Underwater Photography Equipment, PADI, UTD, IST, the Malaysia Tourism Board, the Okinawa Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Egyptian Embassy’s Tourism Office in China. This lineup attracted major international companies like SONY to sponsor the event, thanks to the immense market potential. Leveraging strong partnerships with numerous domestic diving clubs, the exhibition is expected to draw the largest professional audience in the diving industry across North China during the event period.
3. Professional media collaboration with the highest-circulation diving magazine in China and Asia Diver, the most widely distributed diving publication in the Asia-Pacific region, to jointly build the exhibition brand.
China’s highest-circulation diving magazine, Diving (Diving Diving), served as the strategic partner for this exhibition, providing extensive professional media coverage. Asia Diver, as the overseas promotional media, utilized its professional strengths to promote the exhibition brand across the Asia-Pacific region. Both media outlets actively participated and cooperated to help establish and elevate the exhibition's brand.
4. Annual flagship event: the “Charming Diving, Breathing Together” Diving Tourism Photography Competition.
Sponsored by Sony Xperia and Nauticam Lantian Hai, the “Charming Diving, Breathing Together” Diving Tourism Photography Competition launched on June 5 of this year and ran for two months. The competition invited three seasoned professionals in the diving photography field—Li Yucheng, Yoshi Hirita, and Aaron Wong—as judges. Over nearly three months, more than 300 photography works from around the world were submitted, competing in two categories: single underwater photos and underwater story series. The competition featured 18 awards, with 33 winning entries. Awards were presented at the opening ceremony, and the winning works were displayed at the Water Cube for one month. This initiative aimed to promote leisure diving, express reverence for the ocean, advocate for ocean conservation and embracing nature, and raise public awareness about protecting our beautiful marine environments.
5. Public welfare collaboration with the U.S.-based Wildlife Conservation Society to advance marine protection.
The beautiful ocean is a shared treasure of all humanity. Promoting diving is not about harming the ocean, but about fostering love for it through exploration. In partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society, the exhibition organized a series of public welfare activities during the event to cultivate marine environmental awareness and drive efforts in ocean conservation.
