With the warm sunshine of Lichun (Start of Spring) pouring down, cherry blossoms along the lanes of Shilin Village have bloomed one after another during the lunar New Year period. The breathtaking sea of pink blossoms covering the mountains will continue until after the Lantern Festival. Among them, the most eye-catching are the vibrant crimson and mountain cherry blossoms along Pingjing Street and Jing Mountain Road—the two most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Yangmingshan.

The Taipei City Government has set up Iron Horse Stations at both Pingjing Street and Jing Mountain Road, making them ideal spots for cycling enthusiasts to enjoy rides and rest while admiring the cherry blossoms. Visitors can take advantage of the fine weekend weather, cycle up the mountain on an “iron horse,” and soak in the romance of petals falling gently in the breeze.

Implementing carbon-free green transportation is a global trend today. To this end, the Taipei City Government has planned the first Iron Horse Station specifically designed for mountain cyclists. By heading up from Lane 71, Section 3, Shishan Road, Shilin District toward Yangmingshan, you’ll find the Xishan Iron Horse Station and Jing Mountain Iron Horse Station—both thoughtfully planned by the Taipei City Government’s Department of Urban Development.
The views from the mountains are expansive, and the air is fresh.
Cherry blossom forests have been planted near the stations, providing cyclists with perfect spots to admire the blossoms and take a break. The winding, steep mountain roads are lined with cherry, maple, and acer trees, creating a mountain scenery that attracts many cycling enthusiasts to come and challenge themselves.
The crimson cherry blossoms on Yangmingshan are almost in full bloom.
The Xishan and Jing Mountain Iron Horse Stations are respectively located in the Shilin Xishan and Jing Mountain communities. Their designs and functions are tailored specifically for cyclists. The platforms at the stations offer expansive views, allowing you to take in the mountain scenery of Greater Taipei.
