As winter draws near, the highly anticipated 2013–2014 ski season that skiing enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for is about to kick off in style. In early December, Jingzhi Lake Ski Resort will officially open for skiing.

The main challenges now are high costs and large investments, but by taking the lead, you’re making a contribution in this regard.”

On September 17, two teams from the Heilongjiang Provincial Ski Team—the moguls team and the snowboard team—arrived at Beijing Jingzhi Lake Ski Resort for a one-month training session.
On November 5, national youth ski teams from Japan and South Korea conducted a one-week training session at Beijing Jingzhi Lake Ski Resort to prepare talent for the next Winter Olympics. During this time, the Japanese, Korean, and Chinese teams practiced freestyle slopestyle events at the Beijing Jingzhi Lake Ski Jump Resort, marking the first joint training session among the three countries.
Currently, China, Japan, and South Korea face various political issues, but through the sport of skiing and the mutual learning and assistance among future Olympians, not only have their professional skills improved, but more harmonious and friendly international relations have also been fostered.
On the same day, in addition to watching the training sessions of the Japanese and Korean national teams, the children’s performance team from Jingzhi Lake Ski Resort also performed ski jumps. Established in October 2012, the Jingzhi Lake Children’s Performance Team consists of 21 members aged between 3 and 6, making it the youngest ski team in China. The children have received guidance from professional coaches from Austria and Japan during training, and some members are already capable of skiing on double black diamond runs (the most challenging slopes in China).
Regarding children’s skiing, Mr. Shan Zhaojian said, “What you’re doing with children’s skiing is attempting to break through this barrier, allowing Chinese children to enter the skiing scene at an earlier age. I have a saying: Children’s skiing is about taking a healthy and vigorous first step in life. I hope this vigorous start begins with you and spreads across the nation.”
