Typhoon Haima (international name: HAIMA), the 22nd typhoon, has intensified into a severe typhoon. Its center is located at 14.9°N, 132.2°E, moving west-northwest to west at a speed of 26 km/h. The central pressure is 925 hPa, with maximum sustained winds near the center at 51 m/s and maximum gusts at 63 m/s. The radius of the 7-level wind zone is 220 km, and the 10-level wind zone is 80 km. Typhoon Sarika, a moderate typhoon, has caused significant damage and casualties in the Philippines and is heading toward Hainan Island in China and Hong Kong.

The impact of Severe Typhoon Haima on Taiwan should not be underestimated. It intensified into a severe typhoon at 2 a.m. on the 18th, and a sea warning cannot be ruled out for the morning of October 19. Its current trajectory may envelop the entire island, circling and moving upward around Taiwan. The greatest impact is expected on October 20 and 21 (Thursday and Friday), so vigilance is essential.
Affected by the northeast monsoon and as the outer circulation of the typhoon approaches, there is a continued risk of heavy rain in the mountainous areas of northern, central, and eastern Taiwan, as well as in Yilan, Hualien, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula. The western half of Taiwan will be sunny to partly cloudy with occasional brief showers. Mornings and evenings will be cooler, so take care to stay warm.
