The extreme wonder of the Moon World in Tianliao District, Kaohsiung, features otherworldly badland landscapes formed by its unique and rugged mudstone geology, resembling the surface of the moon. The area’s mud volcano terrain creates numerous eruptions and distinctive landforms, including shallow gullies, V-shaped valleys, mudstone, and mud vents.

The Kaohsiung City Government has also developed the “Moon World Landform Park” here. In addition to observation decks and sky ladder wooden boardwalks, there is also a Moon-Gazing Pavilion where visitors can rest and enjoy a panoramic view of the Moon World. This has made it a popular choice for online and magazine photo shoots.

Mayor Tseng Tzu-wen of the Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau stated that the Moon World is themed around “fantasy,” accompanied by a variety of activities to promote Tianliao District. The highlight this time is a light sculpture projection that turns the entire Moon World into a stage, breaking conventions with a fantastical light and shadow show.
