With an increasing number of new attractions in Pingtung, the Pingtung County Government revamped three old state-owned dormitory buildings near the Global Mall commercial district in 2018, establishing a brand-new youth entrepreneurship base named "Shokunin Machi." This not only brings a youthful vibe to Pingtung, but also turns the previously idle dormitories into a unique photo-worthy spot.

The once ordinary Forestry Bureau dormitory buildings have been transformed — their exterior walls now feature numerous artistic murals and decorations full of childlike charm. At first glance, it feels as though you’re in a foreign land, making it a truly eye-catching sight.
"Shokunin Machi" is a creative space planned by the Pingtung County Government for young entrepreneurs. Construction began in mid-2018, and it officially opened in February 2019. Currently, there are 25 teams stationed here, including canteens, woodworking studios, coffee shops, a pork shop run by pig farmers, toy labs, leather workshops, silver jewelry studios, and various other diverse industries. More artisans are expected to join in the future.
