Aside from Taipei’s Happy Park, one of the latest free night cherry blossom viewing spots is Hsinchu Park, where nearly a thousand cherry trees have come into full bloom, making it a popular destination. For the first time, the Hsinchu City Government has installed lighting in the park, and under the illumination, the night blossoms appear even more delicate and romantic, attracting photography enthusiasts from all over Taiwan to capture the daytime and nighttime charm of the cherry blossoms in Hsinchu City. Some even praise Hsinchu Park as the most photogenic cherry blossom viewing spot in the country.

Hsinchu City’s flower viewing season kicked off on March 25. Although it was postponed due to recent cold and rainy weather, with rainfall easing and temperatures rising lately, visitors can take advantage of the holiday to bring their families to Hsinchu Park to admire the cherry blossoms. Delicate pale pink Kawazu-zakura and peach-toned mountain cherry blossoms bloom in alternating splendor. Strolling leisurely beneath the cherry trees feels like being in Japan, leaving visitors exclaiming how incredibly beautiful it is.

Covering an area of 18 hectares, Hsinchu Park is home to nearly 30 varieties and over 800 cherry trees, making it a well-known cherry blossom destination in Hsinchu City and the most accessible flatland cherry blossom spot near a train station in Taiwan—just a 10-minute walk from Hsinchu Railway Station. Thanks to its convenient transportation, the park attracted 180,000 flower-viewing visitors in just three weeks during last year’s season. This year, with the addition of nighttime lighting, the cherry blossoms take on an even more enchanting allure after dark. Visitors are welcome to come and enjoy the blossoms during the viewing season (from now until March 19).
