"This Is Not What I Expected" ("Like You") is adapted from the popular online bestseller "Finally Waiting for You" by renowned author Lan Bai Se. Produced by the award-winning team behind "Soul Mate" – Peter Chan and Sylvia Chang – it has once again sparked heated discussion. The film stars Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Golden Horse Award-winning newcomer Zhou Dongyu in their first on-screen collaboration, bringing to life a romantic tale.

The story follows Gu Shengnan (played by Zhou Dongyu), a "perennial second chef" at a high-end hotel restaurant — a quirky, heroic woman with a dried-fish personality. Clumsy and ditzy in daily life but an exceptionally skilled chef, she’s stuck in a secret relationship with the hotel general manager Cheng Ziqian (played by Yang Yiping) that’s going nowhere. Just as the hotel faces closure due to a financial crisis and becomes a target for acquisition by a conglomerate, Cheng suddenly breaks up with her, leaving Gu caught between losing both love and her job.

Unexpectedly, Lu Jin (played by Tony Leung Chiu-wai), the president of an international hotel conglomerate, enters the bidding war for the hotel.
