Taiwan’s First Hello Kitty Teahouse Debuts in Tainan – First Look Inside!

Taiwan’s first KITTY teahouse！ Ever since the sign went up on Kaishan Road at the end of March, many have been eagerly awaiting its opening. Finally, trial operations began on June 15th, with trial hours from June 15–17 between 11:00 and 20:00. The official opening is set for June 19 at 11:00, with 200 reservation slots available daily！ This crazy reporter just had to check it out～

Seating is by numbered ticket. After drawing your number, you can scan the QR code at the bottom left to find out your place in line！ So you don’t have to wait around too hard！ It’s considerate that you can wander nearby while you wait!

The overall style is quite a departure from the more Westernized look people typically associate with Kitty. In addition to tea and Chinese dishes, the decor leans toward a more wooden, muted ambiance. But Kitty is everywhere in the nooks and crannies！ Still, it doesn’t lose that cute charm...

On the second floor, besides the regular table and chair area, there’s also a seating zone with three ??m seats!

Whether it’s the cute little decorations or the exquisite large plush toys, every corner is super photogenic～ Once you step inside, everyone’s cameras and phones never stop clicking!

There’s also an eight-person private room！ The little tea bag pillows are kinda adorable!

For guests under 115 cm, the minimum spend per person is one pot of tea — meaning everyone must order at least one drink.

Oyster vermicelli noodles, braised pork rice, lard rice, gua bao, lu wei (braised snacks), and zongzi！ The overall dishes lean more toward Chinese flavors. In contrast, the teas are priced higher, but the savory dishes are surprisingly affordable!

The small snacks and desserts also follow a more Chinese style!

Tainan Oyster Vermicelli Noodles – $70

Flavor-wise, it’s on the lighter side, and the noodles are a bit soft. It could use a bit more of Tainan’s signature savory pork lard aroma.

Silver Thread Roll – $50

Made using steamed bun techniques, with a cute Kitty imprint on top, served with condensed milk on the side!

Gua Bao – $60

Stuffed with three-layer pork, pickled mustard greens, and peanut powder — sweet and savory, with spicy preserved mustard greens on the side to add a kick.

Tea-Flavored Malay Cake – $50

The texture is somewhat similar to a sponge cake. It’s actually quite easy to tell apart once you’ve had it before！

Tea-Flavored Pudding – $65

It’s a matcha red bean pudding, and you can take the pudding jar home after eating!

Apple Candy – $50

Served as a whole apple coated in crispy sugar when it arrives. It’s better to ask the staff to slice it after taking photos for easier eating.

Water Rice Cake – $50

A recently popular treat, with a texture similar to jelly. You can see cherry blossom patterns inside!

Sun Moon Lake Ruby Black Tea – $250

The tea comes with a small paper slip suggesting the recommended brewing time!

Each tea order comes with a complimentary tea snack.

The cold drinks come in quite large portions, and the glass bottles can be taken home directly too. Overall, it feels more cost-effective to go for the cold drinks.

Currently, only bookings for July are open in June—meaning if you want to try it out in June, you’ll need to wait for a table on-site. Those who don’t want to queue can book for July instead. At opening, customers flooded in all at once, so staff were understandably a bit overwhelmed.

But overall, the service was still quite friendly. Whether the food is good or not is subjective—but Kitty’s adorable charm definitely won over many hearts.
