Taiwan’s First Official Apple Store Draws Tourists for Photos; Striking Red Paper-Cut Art Packaging Captures Attention

The highly anticipated location of Taiwan’s first official Apple Store has been officially announced—it will be situated at Taipei 101, on the right side of the Xinyi Road entrance. Apple CEO Tim Cook also wrote on Twitter, “Here comes Apple Taipei 101, our first store in Taiwan! 有闲来坐!” (Come by when you can!), echoing the currently under-construction large red paper-cut exterior decor created by Taiwanese paper-cutting artist Yang Shiyi. The massive artwork covers the entire construction site of the store, attracting domestic and international tourists to stop and take photos, creating a highly effective promotional impact and generating buzz for its July 1 opening, which begins at 11:00 AM.

Apple’s official website also posted the following message to greet Taiwanese consumers:

This 75-meter-long giant paper-cut artwork was created and produced by renowned Taiwanese paper-cutting artist Yang Shiyi from Tainan and his team. With the concept of a big treeand imagery of human connection—hugs, sharing, innocence, and joy—the piece is filled with warmth, conveying the inviting message of “come by when you can,” and through this work,reminds everyone of the roots of happiness in life.
