Get an early glimpse of the golden sea of rice in Valley of Serenity — where the patchwork of the countryside unfolds its beauty

The boundless beauty of rice paddies is no longer exclusive to eastern Taiwan. Located in Waipu, Taichung, the Valley of Serenity not only boasts vast expanses of golden rice fields but also features emerald-green farmlands crisscrossed like a mosaic of the earth. Standing on the lightning-like farm paths, it feels like an endless heavenly road, making it a hidden scenic spot that's become hugely popular for photography in Taichung. Most of Taiwan’s rice fields are second-season crops, typically from August to January of the following year. About a month before harvest, you can see lush green fields that later transform into golden waves of rice. Whether shooting from a high vantage point or using the rice fields as a backdrop — with no buildings in sight — you can capture the vast beauty of the countryside. Some even say it rivals Taitung’s Bolang Da Rice.
