The magnificent view of golden rice waves – Taiwan’s top five “Longer Boulevard” scenic spots

In Taitung’s Longer Boulevard, an unending road winds through boundless rice fields, offering a breathtaking countryside scene that feels soothing and restorative. Aside from Taitung, there are also several majestic rice field landscapes around Taiwan. This article introduces five beautiful “Longer Boulevard” spots including Taitung—head here during harvest season to immerse yourself in the rich aroma of rice and earth, as the endless fields stretch out like a heavenly path, allowing you to momentarily forget your worries.

Taichung – Wangyegu Valley

Located in Waipu District, Taichung, Wangyegu Valley boasts vast, uninterrupted rice paddies with no buildings in sight, resembling the scenery of Longer Boulevard and earning it the nickname “Valley of Forgetfulness” among netizens. Aside from its usual green fields, around June each year when the rice ripens, visitors can admire the magnificent golden seas of rice, which are truly enchanting.

Tainan – Xinying Dongshan
 
Near Tianwei and Jibesha in Dongshan, Xinying (GPS: 23.300266, 120.381153), there’s a beautiful landscape comparable to Taitung’s Longer Boulevard. The golden rice fields set against blue skies and white clouds create postcard-perfect views that captivate visitors. Nearby, you can also explore the Jibesha Village of the Siraya indigenous people to experience local traditions and culture.

Yilan – Sanqi Longer Boulevard
 
Yilan’s version of Longer Boulevard is located in Sanqi Village. Stretching approximately 2 kilometers in length and 5 meters in width between Fengzun Temple and Xiesong Road, this route features nine S-shaped curves without a single utility pole. From May to June each year during rice harvest season, it resembles a dragon lying amid golden rice stalks. Walking or cycling along the path allows you to enjoy the rural and rice field scenery, and venturing into the narrow ridges lets you take in the rich scent of rice and earth.

Hualien – Danongdafu Plain Forest Park
 
Danongdafu Plain Forest Park is situated in the heart of the Huatung Valley. The park is designed based on three key principles: low carbon emissions, minimal development, and low commercialization, integrating eco-friendly facilities that blend ecology, culture, scenery, and environmental sustainability. Covering an area of 1,250 hectares (equivalent to 48 Da’an Forest Parks), the park is flanked by the Central Mountain Range to the east and the Coastal Mountain Range to the west, making it one of the best spots to view the Huatung Valley. Aside from its expansive pastoral beauty, the seasonal flower blooms are simply mesmerizing.
