A Garden Rivaling Europe—A Colorful Riverside Flower Sea as a New Holiday Destination

No need to fly abroad to enjoy flowers. In Taipei, you can admire vibrant floral displays comparable to the Netherlands’ Keukenhof Gardens. The Water Resources Department has created a large expanse of beautiful flower fields beneath the green space under the levee platform in the Hakka area of Guting Riverside Park, making it a new holiday destination in Taipei. The blooming period spans the Christmas and New Year holidays and will continue until mid-January next year.

Originally, Guting Riverside Park featured many romantic and exotic art installations that attracted many couples to take wedding photos there. This flower sea design continues this joyful atmosphere. Using over 80,000 pots of warm-colored, high-contrast seasonal flowers such as cosmos, salvia splendens, purple salvia, begonias, and lavender, it outlines a heart-shaped totem, aiming to offer visitors the warmest blessings. The total area of the Guting flower sea reaches 2,200 square meters.

Notably, this time windmills have also joined the Guting flower sea display. The windmills spinning in the breeze on the adjacent green space are very eye-catching, adding a dynamic touch to the otherwise static flower sea. This summer, nearly 1,400 windmills were used at Chengmei Riverside Park to form the phrases “DO U LOVE ME” and “YES I DO.” After the Chengmei Riverside flower season ended, to make better use of the remaining windmills, they were recycled and relocated to Guting Riverside Park for reuse, extending the previous emotional impact brought by the windmills.
