CITY CAFE’s 2017 year-end blockbuster plan: for the first time collaborating with Belgium’s royal chocolate brand GODIVA, launching the Christmas-exclusive CITY CAFE flavored drink “GODIVA Classic Hot Chocolate.” This marks GODIVA’s first-ever global introduction of a freshly made beverage into convenience store channels, with 5,200 GODIVA pop-up stores set up in 7-ELEVEN outlets across Taiwan. The collaboration took half a year of preparation, with internationally renowned GODIVA master chocolatiers crafting the recipe, importing exclusive classic chocolate powder from abroad, and blending it with CITY CAFE hot milk to achieve the perfect golden ratio—faithfully delivering GODIVA’s premium flavor.

Starting December 20, the drink will be officially available at all 5,200 7-ELEVEN stores nationwide, with a limited run of 500,000 cups—averaging less than 100 cups per store. Purchase two medium or larger cups of CITY CAFE (hot or iced) or any full range of freshly brewed teas before January 2, 2018, to enjoy a 50% discount on the second cup. A shopping frenzy and photo-sharing craze is expected.
7-ELEVEN’s in-house brewed coffee brand, CITY CAFE, has maintained its commitment to quality and branding over 13 years, becoming an indispensable part of Taiwanese coffee culture. This has attracted cross-industry collaborations, such as teaming up with Japan’s Morinaga for Morinaga Milk Candy Milk Tea, and enlisting international fashion designer Daniel Wong to create cup designs—setting it apart from other coffee brands.

The collaboration with GODIVA originated from the 2014 World Chocolate Awards, where 7-ELEVEN launched exclusive products, bringing a luxurious chocolate experience to every corner of Taiwan—including outlying islands and Hualien-Taitung—using its then 5,000 stores. 7-ELEVEN essentially became a boutique chocolate shop, significantly boosting GODIVA’s brand visibility. This time, the partnership goes further by integrating GODIVA’s exclusive in-store classic hot chocolate with CITY CAFE, creating a new collaborative model and becoming one of the hottest and most festive topics of late 2017.

Targeted at quality-conscious consumers, the CITY CAFE drink “GODIVA Classic Hot Chocolate” features a cup design in GODIVA’s signature deep brown—symbolizing rich chocolate—paired with a gold brand logo. The understated yet elegant design is accented with just the right touch of luxury.
To let everyone experience the exclusive charm of classic hot cocoa, starting December 20, a GODIVA-themed corner and Brussels street scene will be set up at 7-ELEVEN’s Taipei Hongtai branch, offering customers an instant taste of Europe. Additionally, 10 specially selected 7-ELEVEN stores across Taiwan will feature giant 110cm-tall replicas of the GODIVA classic hot chocolate cup—perfect for both sipping and selfies. The rich European vibe makes it a must-visit photo spot for street photographers.
