From now until March 28, 2018, Cheburashka will meet everyone at Huashan 1914 Creative Park. This “Hello, I’m Cheburashka – 50th Anniversary Special Exhibition” will recreate the townscapes and circus scenes from the picture book, allowing visitors to see the heartwarming moments between Cheburashka and his friends, and to enjoy the world of Cheburashka to the fullest. The exhibition features fun interactive game installations where you can personally take part in building the “House of Friendship” from the Cheburashka stories; there’s also a “Cheburashka’s Good Friend” arcade machine where you can become Cheburashka’s buddy. Most precious of all is the chance to see rare Cheburashka artworks and valuable collections from around the world, and to uncover Cheburashka’s origins!

The adorable Cheburashka may seem to have a mysterious origin, but in Russia, he’s a national icon and a household name superstar. Born from a famous Russian picture book, over the past 50 years he has been adapted into animated works and various other creative forms, and enjoys a large fan base in Japan and Hong Kong as well. In the story, Cheburashka has big ears and a round belly. After an accident, he was packed into an orange crate and accidentally sent to an unfamiliar town in Russia. Because he often wobbled and fell over, the townspeople nicknamed him Cheburashka (Russian for “the little guy who tumbles”). With an optimistic and kind heart, boundless curiosity and energy, and a shy, clumsy charm that melts hearts, Cheburashka embarks on a fun new life in the town, forming deep friendships and collecting all kinds of treasures of the heart.

With his big ears, round eyes, and chubby belly, Cheburashka is simply adorable and lovable. After meeting his Taiwanese friend, Crazy Bonnie (Foufou Bunny), he walks through a vast orange grove and into the townscapes from the original Cheburashka story, seeing the scene where Cheburashka was born from the orange crate<水果摊>, and discovering the origin of his name. Then, holding hands with Cheburashka and Gena, you’ll stroll through<书店绘本角落>, where you’ll learn that Cheburashka actually comes from a famous Russian picture book. As you walk along, you’ll pass by a ringing<你好电话亭>— listen closely, who’s saying hello on the other end of the line? Next, you’ll arrive at the symbol of friendship,<友谊之家>, where you can use an interactive multimedia block-building experience to build your very own House of Friendship with your travel companions.

Hear that clacking and train whistle? The train is moving—Up we go into the<火车站月台>in Cheburashka’s town, and set off on a trip with Cheburashka’s buddies.
